The market's doing something interesting today. While everyone's watching Bitcoin dance around $65,000, Ethereum's been quietly attracting serious institutional money at these $1,900 levels. And honestly? The smart money might be onto something here.
Data from CoinShares shows ETH investment products pulled in $47 million last week alone. That's the fourth consecutive week of inflows, bringing February 2026's total to nearly $180 million. Meanwhile, retail traders seem completely checked out, with Google search trends for "buy Ethereum" sitting at yearly lows. Classic setup, if you ask me.
But here's where it gets really interesting. Ethereum's network activity is absolutely exploding right now. Daily active addresses just hit 892,000 - we haven't seen numbers like that since August 2024. Transaction fees are climbing too, averaging $14.20 yesterday. Sure, that's annoying if you're trying to move tokens around, but it signals genuine demand for block space.
So what's driving this disconnect between price and fundamentals? Part of it's the broader macro picture. Fed Chair Powell's hawkish comments last Tuesday spooked risk assets across the board. But institutions aren't buying ETH for next week's price action. They're positioning for the Prague upgrade in April 2026, which promises to cut gas fees by up to 40%. Add in the fact that staked ETH now represents 28% of total supply (effectively removing it from circulation), and you've got a supply squeeze brewing.
Could we see $2,400 by summer? The technical setup says yes. We've been building this base between $1,850 and $1,950 for six weeks now. Volume's been declining, which typically precedes a big move. And with RSI sitting at a neutral 52, there's plenty of room to run. Just don't expect it to happen overnight.
